BIG NEWS: The Get Down will be hosting the Mile High Blues Farewell Party for our Friday evening event.
Mile High has been a hugely impactful event in the Colorado Blues dancing community for over 15 years. Help us celebrate the close to this momentous chapter in Colorado’s Blues dance history.

SATURDAY NIGHT PARTY: THE SHINDIG
Show up with your funky formal fits, your grooviest moves, and join us for the biggest blowout of the weekend.
This will be our DJ feature evening – we’ll be showing off our favorite DJ’s from across the country, and taking breaks for The Throwdown and The Mixer competitions.

Come to this fun dance with a great Zydeco band from Louisiana, a Zydeco dance lesson, costume contest, Mardi Gras beads, Tarot Card and Astrology readings, Face Painting and complimentary King Cake. Purchase some Gumbo to satisfy your appetite and visit the Cash bar to quench your thirst! Proceeds help support the non-profit local community radio station KGNU, and the non-profit Colorado Friends of Cajun and Zydeco Music and Dance. Tickets available through KGNU.org or at the door. This practica will be a unique deep-dive session where Lila and Dillon guide you through concepts, moments, and inspiration they took from the Mile High Blues workshops. It’s a chance to revisit material you loved, unpack anything you didn’t quite have time to process, and explore it with fresh insight and guidance.

After the Practica, join us at The Rose’s home for a Cookout (address will be shared separately).

This Practica will be tailored for an Intermediate+ Skill Level. If you’re not sure if this workshop is a good fit for your skill level, please reach out to us at thetriplestep@gmail.com.

If you are unable to attend the Practia, but would still like to get some instructional time with Lila and Dillon during their Residency, keep reading!

About Lila and Dillon
Lila and Dillon have been dancing Blues for a collective 25 years, and other styles of partner dance for over 35. They both carry education degrees from prestigious universities, have taught dance as a pair across the West Coast from Washington to California, and continue their training as active members of the larger global Blues dance community to this day. Together, they have studied with some of the most prominent blues dance instructors across the U.S. As a teaching pair they focus on intertwining connection, partnership, and playfulness with the rich and complicated history of Blues dance.

Individually, they each have experience instructing both locally and nationally. Dillon has taught dance and choreographed performances for high schools, college campuses, and dance communities across both coasts in the U.S. Lila has been recognized on a global scale, judging national-level competitions and teaching internationally in cities like Philadelphia (USA), Vancouver (Canada), London (UK) and Lisbon (Portugal). They are excited to bring this wealth of knowledge and experience to your scene!
