Who We Are

The Boulder Dance Coalition is a community of dance leaders and organizers who have joined together to create a robust dance community.

The Boulder Dance Coalition’s mission is to promote dance—and the physical and mental well-being, social connections, and shared joy it brings—by providing affordable facilities and support for dance and related community events.

Values

  • We offer a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space.
  • We support life-long learning.
  • We value folk traditions and shared cultural experiences.
  • We rely on our members and volunteers for success.
  • We support dance leaders in creating new opportunities for community enrichment.

The BDC accomplishes its mission by operating The Avalon. The Avalon is a building with a large ballroom and several smaller studios designed and built for dancers. The coalition members participate by volunteering their time and skills to operate, maintain, and improve The Avalon, and by offering classes and dance events that support the coalition’s mission.
