Avalon COVID Use Policy – Old

February 18, 2022: in effect until further notice

Summary:

  • Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) has rescinded Public Health Order 2021-08, and therefore masks are no longer required at The Avalon.
  • BCPH continues to recommend all individuals 2+ wear a mask while around others. We recommend the wearing of N95 or KN95 masks at events in The Avalon since dancing is such an intimate activity.
  • The Avalon remains a “vaccinated only” venue. If your vaccination is over 6 months old, then we require a booster. Note that the CDC recommends just one booster at this time, with no expiration date.
  • We strongly encourage anyone who thinks they could possibly have been exposed to take a rapid test at home before arriving at The Avalon. Stay home if you have ANY symptoms of ANY illness.
  • All attendees at all events must provide proof of full vaccination when asked by the event organizer or Avalon staff.
  • Attendees must inform the event organizer if they have COVID symptoms or test positive for COVID within 2 week of attendance at an event, and organizers must notify covid@boulderdancecoalition.org.

Avalon Use Policy in the Time of COVID

In establishing this policy, we have considered the guidelines established by Boulder County, the State of Colorado, and the CDC.

Also,

  • Because dancing is much more intimate than other indoor activities and therefore could be more apt to spread disease,
  • And because our population skews older than the general population and is therefore at higher risk from severe disease,
  • And because our HVAC system is not designed to neutralize viruses:

our policy emphasizes community safety.

As the situation changes, this policy may change.

Avalon Policy:

  • The Avalon is a “vaccinated only” venue. We require full vaccination as defined by the CDC, and your vaccination must also be “up to date,” that is, if your initial vaccination series was over 6 months ago, then we require a booster. Note that the CDC recommends just one booster at this time, with no expiration date.
  • Although masks are not required by the county or by The Avalon, any organizer can require masks at their events.
  • BCPH continues to recommend all individuals 2+ wear a mask while around others. We recommend wearing N95 or KN95 masks at events in The Avalon since dancing is such an intimate activity.
  • We strongly encourage anyone who thinks they could possibly have been exposed to take a rapid test at home before arriving at The Avalon.  Stay home if you have ANY symptoms of ANY illness.
  • Renters must provide proof of vaccination to Avalon staff prior to holding events.
  • Renters are responsible for ensuring that all attendees at their events are fully vaccinated.
  • All attendees at all events must provide proof of full vaccination when asked by the event organizer or Avalon staff.
  • Because the repercussions would be serious if an outbreak occurs at the Avalon, renters who fail to ensure that attendees are vaccinated risk losing rental privileges.

In addition:

  • Renters are required to inform attendees at events that they should notify the organizer if they have COVID symptoms or test positive for COVID within 2 weeks after attending an event at the Avalon.
  • Organizers are required to notify the Boulder Dance Coalition COVID team of any potential exposures at: covid@boulderdancecoalition.org.
  • If the organizer or the COVID team believes an exposure could have occurred, the organizer should inform attendees at the relevant events and suggest testing.

Note:

We understand that some people are unable to get the vaccine for health reasons. We are sorry that those people will be unable to attend Avalon events. We hope that, as the pandemic wanes, we can accommodate all those who wish to dance at the Avalon.
