The Neil Bridge 7+ Ensemble Featuring Karen Lee Bridge
The Neil Bridge Ensemble plays for our swing dance series every year. They are a seven-piece combo featuring Neil Bridge on piano, and Karen Lee Bridge vocalizing.
Neil Bridge is a jazz piano player of local fame, composer, arranger, and band-leader. Neil has written over 200 musical arrangements for this band. Due to his work as a former music educator with the Denver Public Schools, there is a room dedicated to Neil at the Denver School for the Arts. Neil created and directed the first Denver City Wide High School Jazz Combo. He and his students received the prestigious Downbeat Award for best High School Jazz Combo in the United States.
Karen Lee is currently fulfilling her passion for singing with her husband. She writes that her dreams came true when she began to sing professionally. Her works include songs from “The Great American Songbook”, with arrangements by her husband.
Karen Lee is the third-generation of her family in the entertainment industry. For 50 years Karen’s grandfather promoted shows in Scranton, Pennsylvania, bringing big-name entertainment to eager fans. He started out by running 25-cent dances in the 1920s.
The Neil Bridge Ensemble with Karen Lee Bridge is a very danceable band with lots of swing numbers and a fine variety of other couples dances. High energy, fine rhythm, novel arrangements, great vocals – always a treat. Please join us!

The third Saturday swing dances mainly feature classic, big-band-era styled orchestras and their modern offshoots.
The fifth Saturday swing dances generally feature dance bands of somewhat different styles, but still swing.
Our dances focus mostly on what is generally called six-count swing, not heavily oriented towards lindy-swing.
Our bands generally also play a few dance numbers each evening in other couples-dance styles; cha-cha-cha, waltz, ballads, rumba, and etcetera.
This swing series is sponsored by American Vernacular Dance, a member group of the Boulder Dance Coalition.
