Colorado Friends of Old Time Music and Dance | Social Dance
Colorado Friends Of Old Time Music And Dance is a non-profit organization that runs nearly 100 community participatory dances per year – such as contra dances – with live music and calling in the Denver and Boulder metro area of Colorado. No prior dance experience is necessary, and almost all of our dances are preceded by a lesson. Community dances are very social by nature – married and unmarried couples, singles accompanied with friends or arriving alone, and anyone from age 9 to 109 who enjoys dancing are welcome. CFOOTMAD Community Contra Dance, first and third Fridays each month. 7:00 p.m. lesson, 7:30-10:30 p.m. dance. $15/general $12/members $19 students. CFOOTMAD events at The Avalon are mask optional and no longer require proof of vaccine or boosters. Vaccines are recommended, but not required.

English Country Dance-From England, Historic and new dances. Jane Austen era, 1700's to new modern barn dance styles. Stately to lively dances with live music for each dance. (Bridgerton, Guilded Age, Cecil Sharp, Pat Shaw) Circles, lines, all dances taught each time.

CFOOTMAD has been a member of the CDSS, the Country Dance & Song Society, since its founding. CDSS provides a broad range of resources and support to traditional dance organizations throughout the country. CDSS’s annual board meeting is being held in Boulder in 2024, and to welcome the board to Colorado, we are hosting a free dance. Colorado Friends of Old Time Music and Dance (CFOOTMAD) present a Zesty Contra dance the 2nd Saturday of each month. 7:00 p.m.- 10:00p.m. $15 for non-members; $12 for members; always live music. The Zesty contra dance series is for dancers with some experience with contra dance. There is no lesson before the dance, and walk-throughs may be abbreviated, or for simpler dances, eliminated entirely.
