Lindy Hop: Jitterbug Stroll
December 16 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
| $15Event Navigation
The Jitterbug Stroll is a super fun swing line dance created in 1992 by Ryan Francois, a world-renowned vernacular jazz dancer, teacher, and choreographer. The dance was originally performed to “Woodchopper’s Ball,” by Woody Herman, and is now a classic that can be seen at Lindy Hop dances everywhere, just like The Big Apple, The Tranky Doo, and The Shim Sham. The Jitterbug Stroll is composed of foundational vernacular jazz steps, which were popular decades before Ryan placed them into this clever choreography. Individual steps in the routine include the boogie forward, boogie back, pivot turns, shorty George, knee slaps, tick tocks, Suzy Qs, and the Shim Sham break.
As you learn The Jitterbug Stroll, you will also:
- Build your jazz dance vocabulary
- Add improvisational fun and play to both your partnered and solo dancing
- Improve your movement, dance technique, and musicality
- Increase your connection to the world Lindy Hop and jazz community
